A personal experiment in speed and constraint-based creativity. Testing if time constraints force better decisions.
The Experiment
What happens if I remove all the time I usually spend overthinking?
Hypothesis: I'll create something more authentic and less polished, but potentially more interesting.
Process
Started with a 5-minute brainstorm session, then moved straight to execution. Created 3 logo concepts in the first hour, then refined the chosen direction. No second-guessing, no endless iterations.
What Worked
The time constraint forced creative solutions and prevented overthinking. Made decisions faster and with more confidence.
What Didn't
The logo needed 3 more iterations to be truly polished, but that's okay - the experiment was about speed, not perfection.
Key Learnings
- —Constraints spark creativity
- —"Done" is better than "perfect"
- —First attempts teach more than polished work
- —Time pressure can lead to more authentic solutions
What's Next
Try a 12-hour version with a different client to see if the learnings hold. Also experiment with 48-hour projects.
